Although I might be accused of being a little morbid, this weeks visualisation illustrates the number of fatalities at road junctions (or intersections) in the New York State area.
It was produced by Transport Alternatives and was funded by the New York State Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee.
The website is called Crashstats and uses ArcGIS to display the data. Information on how the GIS data has been visualised can be found in crashstat gis documentation
I did try to find the equivalent for London. Transport for London have produced a pdf which shows casualties in Greater London area from 2010 but the data is only broken down to Borough level and isn’t visualised geographical.
The BBC have also mapped UK fatal accidents
